Tailored with a Twist.

As always I try my best to stay close to my roots.  Working at Gap and Banana Republic for soo many years it becomes very hard to break your eye from being drawn to the traditional all America Look.  However, this fall looking from store to store seems to have just that look (and for me this is great!)  Going to school for teaching I do not want to be that teacher that the kids look at and say "OMG, What is she wearing??" That is just not an option.  So seeing nice tailored Capris and Khakis, button down shirts, blazers and ballet flats seems to be the perfect "staple mix" for my fall wardrobe.

One little twist...a pop of color is never a bad thing!

Pinterest Addiction

I do not know what it is but I am soo addicted to Pinterest.  It has definitely inspired me to begin blogging again!  Not to mention go shopping daily to find the new outfits for the upcoming spring season.  Using Pinterest has also gotten me into Arts and Craft mode again!  Last year I did some Tissue Paper painting to fill these large picture frames I had.  This was a cheap and quick way to add some color to my bedroom walls that fit into the theme of black, red, white, and gray.  This was done by adding a base color to tissue paper and then adding design to the base color.  The tissue paper was then cut and collaged into the center of the frame.
Since January my calendar has been out of date.  I was cleaning and found some of the left over tissue paper.  I also found an old frame I no longer had hanging in my room.  I decided to use this to make a new calander that I could use year round.  Here is how I did it....
I framed the top of the frame with the left over tissue paper.  I then printed out days of the week labels on the computer, as well as, boxes for each day of them month.  Underneath I used red and black construction paper to hide the cardboard base from the frame.
I then used a glue stick and double sided tape on the boxes to paste it all down.  The final result is....

So now instead of buying a new calender every year, I will be able to use a dry erase marker and change it from month to month.  (not to mention it matches the other picture frames in my room!)

WOW...A WHOLE SEASON HAS PASSED!

Summer is almost over and I have not blogged once!!  With three classes this summer and running a day camp it was not easy to find time, but with a week before school begins its time to make some time!!  Leaves are already changing, temperatures are dropping, and Back to School Shopping is in full effect (for some at least).  So that means its time to look in the closet (or closets now) and start seeing what can be given away and what is definitely remaining for another season.  Plus maybe adding a new thing or two.  But first comes school books and tuition.  So much organizing from one season to the next when it comes to clothes, books, schedules it becomes crazy sometime, but hey gotta make it work.

So what is on the horizon for the fall wardrobe??

More to come soon....

Shoes, Sandals....and Boots!!

Weezie Wee! (No not a shoe name)
After a trip to the vet with my little man today I began thinking...We always had dogs named after shoes growing up...We had a dog named Shoes, a dog named Socks, a dog name Sandals,  and even a Dog named Adidas, but never Boots!! How could we forget the most important shoe of all?!

Okay Okay...so maybe this is more of a cat name, but with a Mom that loves shoes more than me I cannot see how this most important Shoe slipped her mind?!  So for my family skipping over this Icon of Fashion accessories I decided today I needed to blog about some of my favorites old and new!

Favorite Pair #1:  Forever 21 Laced Boots

Love these boots!  The neutral color allows for many choices.   However, my favorite is a pair of dark skinnys with a Neutral  top or sweater.  The boots are great for a casual night out for dinner or can be dressed up even more for a weekend out!  Either way they are comfortable and will be a boot that takes you into the Spring!

Favorite Pair #2: Forever 21 Flat Boots

Working with little kids it is never easy to find outfits that work other than sweats sometimes...However, these boots are great for this time of year paired with skinnys and a casual top or sweater. Of course, I always have my Puffy Vest to go with them too!  Going from class to work and back again it is by far much easier to just wear casual stuff.  Rather than sweats and  hoodies day in and day out, these boots are a great way to keep a casual look with a pop of fashion!  Much like my first favorites, this boot is one that will take you into spring and is perfect during this time of year with the mild weather here and there.  One thing I'm not so sure about is seeing these paired with skirts and dresses?!  I think on the right person it would be cute, but for me I think I'll stick to my skinnys!

Favorite Pair #3: My Christmas Gift from Mom!

Having a mom more into shoes than you is never a bad thing...especially when you wear the same size and when it comes to Christmas shopping you know your list is in good hands!  Just like the other one's above they are perfect for those casual days, but not so casual that you want to feel bummy!  These are definitely more of a Winter boot and with the more mild weather around the corner I'm thinking it will soon be time for these boots to find their way into the box to prepare for spring.  Don't want to say goodbye just yet, but I think (or more I hope) the warm weather is just around the corner.

Favorite Pair #4: Black Booties

This pair of booties was one of the best sale buys I made.  A few years ago, towards the end of the winter season I found these at Charlotte Russe for only $15!!  I really wanted a pair like this, but never really felt like splurging for something I wasn't sure was just a trend or something that would last a while.  Fortunately, I've gotten much use out of these.  Love pairing these with a pair of black leggings for a night out!  Definitely glad this trend has stuck around for a few years because I'm not ready to part with these just yet!

So a trip to the Vet for the Weez was not the most pleasant (as some of you may already have heard), but it made a great introduction for a blog post!  In hopes of warm weather soon...or at least "Springish" weather I will be sad to box up some of my boots until next Winter.  However, with a few pairs to take me into Spring I'm feeling okay with saying....See you next season!

Back to the Basics!

Funny how this saying can be seen as bad to some, but seems to be the look for Spring!  Planning a camp is never easy, especially when everyone doesn't seem to be on the same page.  Having the theme of "Back to the Basics" turned down for camp was kind of a downer even though I understood why this was possibly seen as bad to the higher ups.  However, the same day taking a trip to the mall showed me that this saying was not a bad thing at all!!

Walking into H&M (my absolute favorite) I saw everything I love!!! You will see me in crazy print shoes and occasionally the printed dress in summer, but for the most part as I have said before, I am Miss Black, White, and Gray.  I know I know....so boring, but hey I can't help it.  After years and years of working at Banana Republic and Gap I can't help but love the basics and these classic colors!   So of course, seeing the new Pants Collection at H&M was a line after this girl's heart!

The Pants Collection from H&M!

That classic, tailored look is not one that can get old.  Walking around the store I quickly was drawn to the Skinny leg jeans in the collection.  The jeans have the style of almost a jegging, but the detail and style was defiantly one I could not put down.  I also have been dying for a new Black Blazer so I got just that.  The Blazer has the cutest striped detail in the sleeve to make it fun and add a pop of design!  Paired with a cute pair of ballet flats or heels to dress it up this is one outfit that will never get old!  Funny thing I put the outfit together than saw this picture and was like WOW guess I styled that just right!

Khaki Chinos- $9.95

Then there was the great deal on the Khaki Chinos!!  These pants are a great piece for the Spring.  Paired with a cute pair of Ballet flats or espadrilles these pants again show the classic style of the Spring!  So now the question is...what do I want to wear on the top?  H&M had a great selection of Spring Jackets and shirts.   However, I just picked up the pants to not miss out on this great deal.  This will mean a trip back to the H&M in the near future to figure out what will complete this great spring look!!  (and possibly even more Skinnys from the Pants Collection!)

Rain Rain Go Away

A girl that would much rather enjoy the pleasant, sunny, spring and summer weather cannot deny its always good once in a while to have a rainy day to relax...and not to mention you  actually get use out of your RAIN BOOTS!!!
Target Rain Boots

I of course being the black, white, and gray girl have the black boots with white polka dots!  Love them!  There is nothing worse than having to walk early in the morning in the rain...getting wet feet and having to sit at work or in class with cold feet all day!  Not to mention they look super cute on a day that everyone is never feeling that cute because of the weather!  Getting them for Valentine's Day from my mom I could not wait for the snow or rain just to enjoy my new boots! However.....

THE RAIN CAN STOP NOW!!!!

Sister Shopping!

Sephora OPI Metro Chic

Shopping with my Sister is always a highlight of the week.  Having time to do this made my weekend that much better! Friday afternoon my sister, Crosby and I took a trip up to the Ulta in York to get more of our shampoo.  Little did we know this trip was going to be quite exciting due to a new discovery....

Being addicted to shopping has not stopped at shoes, clothes, purses, and the many other things, but I've grown a weakness for nail polish, as well.  Ever since the Sephora and OPI nail polish came out I have been addicted!!  The Metro Chic color began it all!!!  Being a creature of habit I seemed to not be willing to try anything other than this brand.  However, Friday afternoon changed my mind a little bit!

China Glaze Crackle Nail Polish

This new line from China Glaze is so fun!  It is very simply done by applying a base coat, a base color, the CRACKLE color, then a top coat.  The effect is awesome! It also allows for many different color combos!  The best part of all...I can still use my Sephora OPI base color!!!

Needless to say, this discovery will make a future trip to Ulta a definite must!
